How We Got Here

Viewscape Management Consulting was founded on the ideology that well-led people are at the source of great business results. This starts with cultivating strong leaders who truly care about their teams’ success and wellbeing.

While serving in the Canadian Army for 15 years, Don Durand was faced with many tough challenges. From his military experience, he learned several crucial lessons, including the value of teamwork and the importance of cultivating trust in one’s self and others. He also acquired many skills, including strong communication and the ability to develop and nurture a growth-oriented, beneficial, and sustainable team culture.

He often thought back to his adolescence, when his parents would come home after work each night and vent about their hectic schedules, toxic work environments, and ineffective bosses. Hearing them talk about this behaviour was unsettling. Even as a young man, he wondered how people could thrive, not simply survive, at work.

After spending time in the industry, Don soon realized there were parallels between the creation of effective culture both in the military and in the traditional workplace. He thought, “If the troops are unhappy, it’s not their issue; it’s the leader’s.” Similarly, through time leading startups in Canada and West Africa, Don noticed that the happiness of his staff was also a direct result of competent, collaborative leaders whose main focus was on the welfare of the teams. And, he saw that improving leadership had a direct result on his company’s bottom line.

Don had a dream to teach and foster progressive, clear, and aligned workplace culture—one in which, no matter the industry, people could go to work and come home engaged.

Viewscape does not make lofty promises or push a one-size-fits-all model. The Viewscape team actively listens to clients and designs impactful and lasting engagements that pull on a curated set of tools and skills.

Since its inception, Viewscape’s consulting model has emphasized the importance of flexibility. Every company, team, and employee is different. Don and his team have understood this from day 1. As a result, Viewscape delivers carefully-tailored approaches to each of their clients The consultants naturally bring a personal touch to every interaction, since they understand that it is people who comprise a business—all while having an eye on results.

Through waves of word of mouth referrals over the years, Viewscape’s client roster has skyrocketed. And over time, Viewscape has recruited all-star team members who bring their own unique skills, backgrounds, and stories to the table.

As Viewscape has evolved over the years, the brand focuses on helping teams enhance their ability to implement strategy, achieve unprecedented results, and overcome obstacles to their success.

At the end of the day, Viewscape consultants are masters at creating environments where lasting breakthroughs emerge. Each consultant truly listens to every need and focuses on unlocking the value that already exists within people.

Travis Streb (He/Him)

Lead Consultant

In a word, he is a coach whose practice is embodied leadership. This is about taking the abstract (presence, communication, leadership, decisiveness, relationships) and making it real through action. There is a process to this, but it is never a straight line…

Travis works with his clients to help them define how they would like to be in the world (and at work!) and what they would like to achieve. He then works with them to make that come to life through their actions. This is not complicated - what is complicated is bringing this to life outside of our thoughts.

This is where Travis comes in. He is your humble guide in the process of taking the concept of leadership and making it real… for you. He is not a guru or an evangelist. Instead, he is the coach in your corner helping you navigate through it all. One of the ways he does this is through his role as host of the Men at Work Podcast. Prior to partnering with Viewscape, Travis has worked most recently as Senior Associate at The Humphrey Group, and a Manager at BC Hydro.

Travis is also a father, husband, recovering bike racer, kundalini yoga addict, and fellow human. He holds a MA Economics from The University of Denver, and a BA Economics from Simon Fraser University.
